Gold for Human Rights

During my Easter vacation travel I already heard the sad news about Tibet on the radio. You all probably know about it.

China (the politicans) is not the only country in the world that isn't valuating the human life (and the nature). Of course the event of the olympics draws the attention to it.
There is quite a lot of information on the net as well as features to express your indignation.
I would like to point out just some possibilities to make it simple.

Amnesty Internatial started their campaign already before the violent strike down of the demonstration of the Tibetean people because what happens in Tibet for many, many years is not the only violation of Human Rights.

The English information page is found here.
In German one can sign a petition online or print it out (pdf-file) and collect signatures to send to AI.

Monday March 31 is Global Action Day for Tibet.

Like in the weeks before there are all over meetings, get-togethers and demonstrations.
Last Wednesday I joined the crowd in Hamburg. It was important, peaceful and heart-breaking to see the participating Tibetan suffer.

For Germany here are all informations.
If you are interested please find out for yourself what happens in your own country. Thank you.

The Hamburg Tibetan Center, where I go to more or less regular for study and meditation, also puts together (in German) current information of what takes place in Tibet and in Germany.

Quote Dalai Lama: "Never give up!"
Here is what His Holiness wrote in an open letter to the Chinese people.
This is the official homepage of the Tibetan Government in Exile.

Thanks for reading.

birthday flowers 2

Freesia macro2

I couldn't decide between these two macro shots.

Freesia macro1

They belong to the beautiful bouquet of freesia that my mother gave me to my birthday - like she did for decades.
Each year.
Freesia.
Mostly in blue.
This year I like the white ones even more. And most this blossom with its delicate drawing.

The tradition of freesia for my birthday must have started earlier than my memory.
When I was turning Sweet Little Seventeen I lived in Michigan - far away from my family. Of course I was missing them especially in February. You should see my eyes when my birthday letter arrived: 4 (four) pages full of cut and pasted pictures of freezia!

Ever since they accompanied by birthday - except the one when I was travelling through Asia in 1995. My mother flew into Thailand to take me to diner in a lovely beach restaurant and I excused the lack of freesia, because obviously there was no way in that tropical climate there.

Bouquet of Freesia

From my girlfriend I got the spring-like Lily of the valley - much nicer than on the photo. The best neighbour in the world gave me the red flower (name?) and an invitation to a cozy Italian restaurant, yummy.

So nice being able to document all their thoughtful presents.
There were even more - books on mountaineering, an invitation for an opera...
The joy comes back into my mind and into feelings while posting it here.

SpringShawlSurprise somewhere in-between

SpringShawlSurprise Clue8 b

Yesterday I finished Clue 8. Never the light or the time is right to take a picture of a finished clue, but anyway I like most the details.
So here are some photos to honor them.

SpringShawlSurprise Clue 8a

What comes into your mind when you see the following photo? ;-)
I'm sure that is not a hint to Lul's theme. :-)

SpringShawlSurprise Clue8 c

I especially like this detail and look at it everytime I pick up my knitting.

birthday flowers 1

Jasmin1

Yes, the title is right. Birthday flowers 1. Birthday flowers 2 might follow tomorrow or might not follow. Birthday partys sometimes take their toll. Means they desire sleep catching up, straighten the house, settle down into daily rhythm. This time accompanied with a little sickness, nothing new this winter. It seems normal for a lot of people from around here since December.

I had fantastic two birthday days. Yes, even on a quite unspectacular number (the spectacular happened last year) I enjoyed visitors and action for two days. I love it!

Sunday was all cooking and preparing. Now, please don't laugh: In the late afternoon a Tupperparty mixed with a pre-birthday-party began. My sister asked me to help her getting exercise as a TupperLady. Oh, well, me a Tupper-host???! I was very surprised when some of my friends got really excited about that and so it started. My sister did her job very well, we sold a lot, me also beforehand.
After that some friends stayed for some glasses of Prosecco to say Good-Bye to my last year. My oldest friends stayed overnight, so of course we cheered into my new year. They gave me this beautiful, so intensive smelling jasmine and a gift certificate for a walk through Hannover guided by theater actors.
