TALLY HO - off to new adventures
It's late and I'm too tired for writing a decent post. Tomorrow I'm leaving again so I should go to catch some sleep.
If anyone is interested, there are a couple of new photos from Sweden on my flickr.
The above is Hamburg from the air. I marvelled at this beautiful sight. On the left is the river Elbe with the harbor. The reflekting light from the setting sun is the Aussenalster, an old storage lake right in the middle of downtown. Hamburg truely is a city of water.
Enjoy your summer!

Summer vacation part I - Sweden / 1
Despite my fear of flying I enjoyed the feeling of being high above.
My friends picked me up at Arlanda, the Stockholm Airport.
Being lazy in the garden - as promised.
I enjoyed the very close lake at all kinds of light.
We were really lucky with the weather.
We were really lucky with the weather.
The inflating canoe was Ralf's special birthday present from Sabine- including a middle seat for me :-). We already had a great party buying it together at my favorite outdoor-shop, where I luckily get a discount.
This was one of the reasons why I visited my friends on their vacation up north. Who can resist such a kind of welcoming friendship.

Eating was important - as well as enjoying our company.
Welcome back kilos just recently lost!

I tried to gain back my strength and good body feeling that got buried under the stressful last weeks of work. One of my treatment was a daily brisk walk for half an hour. It always ended - of course at the lake.
Ellen and Hélène, thanks for your very welcome wishes.
Hopefully you have a nice summer as well!

Tschüs for summer 2008
The book on display and the silver box containing angels (more about that later) I found in a wonderful bookshop in Lienz, Austria.
But in the last crazy busy weeks I haven't found the time nor the inner peace to do what is written on the open page.
Fools hurry, clever ones wait,
wise ones go into the garden.

(from China)
From Thursday on I will go into the garden (but not in mine), that's for sure. In my luggage there is a book waiting for me about a turtle as a metapher for serenity, equanimity, calmness and security in oneself. As soon as I hit the waiting area in the airport I will start reading. Oh, yes. That will be fine.
Summer jacket is ready knit and blocked. Right now she's in my bag to take with me for sewing the sleeve and the threads, but I might take it out due to needed space. If she will travel with me you can expect summer photos. Otherwise it will be fall photos, but that really doesn't bother me too much.
During the next weeks I might not post at all, because I'll be gone off and on.
I wish to all of us a good summer with all kinds of delights.
May everybody be healthy and happy.
As last year this time I greet you with a heartly tschüs
:-Tally-:

summerjacket getting there
I want to finish summerjacket (started for Ellens 2. Kreativitätstag) before summer vacation are starting - that's for sure.
Only one sleeve is missing, so I should think I'll meet my goal.
Knitting while surfing is easy with the main pattern - sewing together and burying the endless threads is another story.
Always a miracle how a mess of yarn, threads and pieces turns to a wearable piece.

so much fun
It all started in this March climbing trip to Italy on a terrible shady, windy belay in a mountain wall where we had to wait for hours, because the climbers in front of us were uncapable.
To keep me occupied I started to sing (or whatever you would call it) old pop-songs. There is no real English word for what I mean. (In German Schlager). Music you usually don't sing around with the people I've known so far. But it is my secret, or better, it was.
I love to sing out really loud to some of those songs.
And so did my young climbing friend. I couldn't believe it!!!
So today we met with some other of her friends for the Schlagermove Hamburg 2008. Trucks driving very slow, sounding pop-songs very loud, people dancing, singing, jumping, laughing all over the place.
The weather was fantastic and Hamburg near the harbour anyway.
The melon was our orientation sign :-)
The last picture is taken on my very favorite spot in Hamburg. High above over the river Elbe and the Landungsbrücken on the hilltop in front of the Youth Hostel.
